About
Mr Jay Goswamy FRCS
Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat, Head & Neck and Thyroid Surgeon, looking after adults and children across Manchester and Cheshire.
I look after adults and children with the full range of ENT conditions. My particular interest is head and neck surgery, including thyroid and salivary gland problems, alongside advanced sinus surgery using image-guided navigation to make treatment safer and more precise. I regularly treat airway and voice disorders.
In children, my main areas of expertise are intracapsular coblation tonsillectomy, pinnaplasty for prominent ears, and neck lumps.
I studied medicine at Sheffield, graduating with distinction, then completed my ENT surgical training across Manchester. I went on to a nationally-selected Royal College of Surgeons fellowship at Guy’s and St Thomas’ in London, training with senior ENT, maxillofacial and plastic surgeons in complex surgical oncology including head and neck cancer, thyroid surgery, facial plastic and airway surgery. I now work at Wythenshawe Hospital and hold an honorary consultant position at The Christie, as a core member of both the Head and Neck Cancer and Thyroid MDTs.
What I value most in private practice is being able to guide patients through the whole journey, from first appointment through treatment to follow-up, rather than handing them between people. Trust, clear communication and decisions made together.

Charitable work
MENTORS
I founded MENTORS (Manchester ENT Oncology Recovery Support) in 2018, to build a genuine community for people affected by head and neck cancer across Manchester and Cheshire.
Many people are fortunate to have strong support from family and friends, but the journey can still feel overwhelming. There are aspects of recovery that go beyond what we can offer in a clinical setting. Through fundraising and community events, MENTORS creates a space where patients can connect, share experiences and feel supported by others who truly understand.
Outside of work
Married, with two young daughters and a lively cockapoo called Molly who keeps us all on our toes.
A continual quest to discover the perfect coffee bean, and a place on the 200 Degrees barista training course.
A hike, a triathlon, a hyrox or a long run. Physical health is the foundation for good mental wellbeing.
